Meta's entry creates competition for AI agent startups on WhatsApp
Meta has begun offering its own AI agents on WhatsApp, creating competition for startups that have built their services on the messaging platform.

Startups developing AI agents for the WhatsApp platform are facing new competition from Meta Platforms' own offerings. Meta has started providing its AI agents to businesses using its messaging app, creating a direct route to the customers these startups aim to reach.
Companies responding to the competition, such as Singapore-based Voltade and Indonesia-based Mimin, are focusing on capabilities that go beyond simply answering messages. These include integrations with other software, handling company-specific processes, and supporting conversations outside of WhatsApp.
For instance, Voltade helps clients manage conversations across multiple channels like WhatsApp and email, offering customized solutions for warranty management and servicing processes. Mimin, in turn, assists enterprise clients in configuring their agents and connecting them to existing systems.
Meta is continuously expanding its own integration capabilities, adding pressure on AI agent startups to consistently develop and offer features that Meta does not provide. Success in the market requires startups to demonstrate clear differentiating factors that make their services valuable to customers.
