Metsä Board invests in Kemi mill's finishing operations

Metsä Board Oyj has announced a significant investment in the finishing operations at its Kemi board mill. The upgrade will focus on the mill's sheeting machine and is scheduled for completion during the annual maintenance shutdown in October-November 2026.

The investment is intended to improve the quality of the company's products and strengthen the reliability of its supply chain. Furthermore, the upgrade is expected to increase production efficiency at the Kemi facility, which is the world's largest producer of coated white kraftliners. The mill has an annual production capacity of approximately 465,000 tons, and its products are used globally as the top layer for corrugated board packaging.

"The modernization of the sheeting machine at the Kemi board mill strengthens our operational capabilities and our ability to deliver high-quality products to our customers," stated Mill Director Tomi Seppä. He added that the investment will also improve the mill's operational reliability and ensure future delivery dependability.

According to Metsä Board, this investment supports the Kemi mill's role in the global supply chain by further enhancing the company's capacity to serve its customers with consistent quality and dependable deliveries.
