Metsä Board issues EUR 200 million green unsecured notes
Metsä Board Corporation has issued EUR 200 million of senior unsecured green notes maturing in six years. The notes carry a fixed annual interest rate of 3.875 per cent.

Metsä Board Corporation has issued EUR 200 million of senior unsecured green notes, with a maturity of six years, maturing on 28 May 2031. The notes carry a fixed annual interest rate of 3.875 per cent, and were issued at a price of 99.570 per cent.
The notes were allocated to both Finnish and foreign investors. CFO Henri Sederholm stated that the arrangement extends the maturity of the company's financing and supports its strategy for growth in fibre-based packaging materials and the renewal of industrial operations. He added that it also contributes to achieving its ambitious sustainability targets for 2030.
Metsä Board intends to use the net proceeds from the issuance to finance or refinance eligible green projects or assets, in accordance with Metsä Group’s Green Finance Framework. The framework was established in 2019 and updated in July 2024.
The company will apply for the notes to be listed on Nasdaq Helsinki's list of sustainable bonds. Danske Bank A/S and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (publ) acted as joint lead managers for the issue.
