Metsä Board Supplies Paperboard for Children's Book Distributed to One Million Pupils in Germany

Metsä Board Oyj, a Finnish paperboard manufacturer, has supplied material for the cover of "Der fliegende Klassenscooter," a children's book distributed as part of the "I'll give you a story" initiative in Germany. The 2026 campaign book's covers are produced using Metsä Board's Prime FBB Bright folding boxboard.

The initiative aims to promote reading among children. Participating bookstores across Germany will distribute the book to approximately one million pupils in observance of World Book Day 2026. Metsä Board's material expertise and focus on efficiency contribute to a resource-effective approach for a high-volume campaign.

The paperboard, MetsäBoard Prime FBB Bright 235 g/m², is designed for applications requiring stiffness, visual appeal, and material efficiency. The grade is made from fresh fibres sourced from Northern European forests and is FSC® certified. Production takes place at Metsä Board's mill in Äänekoski, Finland, which utilizes a high share of fossil-free energy.

Gabriel Goldmayer, Sales Director at Metsä Board, stated the company's pleasure in supporting a reading promotion initiative while enabling efficient material use through lightweight paperboard. The book's publisher, cbj Verlag, emphasized reliability and responsible material choices in its production decisions.

"I'll give you a story" is a collaborative effort involving Stiftung Lesen, the Book Culture and Reading Promotion Foundation of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association, Deutsche Post and DHL, cbj Verlag, and ZDF. The initiative has been supported by the education ministers of the federal states since 1997.
