Metsä Board Oyj is presenting a new pulp-based fibre material intended for interior design applications. The material was first featured at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2025, where it was utilized for the Design Bar counter and a larger exhibition space.
Anu Latvala from design agency Fyra stated their aim was to showcase Finnish wood innovatively. "We wanted to create a harmonious space where all elements inspire and encourage designers to create new solutions," Latvala said.
Minna Hakalahti, Development Manager at Metsä Board, highlighted the material's versatility. "The material is a wood-based product that brings a new kind of freshness to interior design. It is light and easy to work with," Hakalahti explained. She added that renewable fibre-based materials can replace fossil raw materials and promote sustainability in industrial value chains.
Metsä Board is continuously developing new wood fibre-based bioproducts, both independently and in collaboration with partners. These new fibre materials are part of the company's products currently in the development phase, aiming to expand the applications of wood fibres.
