Metsä Group will fund 22 new projects across Finland focused on strengthening biodiversity and ecological restoration. A total of EUR 300,000 has been allocated for the initiative.

Metsä Group has allocated EUR 300,000 to support 22 new projects aimed at enhancing biodiversity and ecological restoration throughout Finland. The funding program aims to support practical nature management, environmental education, and community involvement.
Selected projects include the restoration of the Sarvikas wetland area to benefit threatened bird species and initiatives in Säkylä to improve local biodiversity through meadows, pollinator-friendly measures, and activities involving schoolchildren. These projects reflect a growing interest and expertise in ecological conservation across the country.
"The interest in the Funding programme for nature projects continues to grow each year, with a record 122 applications received this year. This demonstrates significant expertise and readiness to implement ideas for strengthening biodiversity in Finland. Access to funding is often the decisive factor," stated Shaheena Turak, Metsä's Nature Expert.
An external expert panel, including representatives from Finnish ministries and academic institutions, evaluated the applications. Since 2021, the program has funded 111 projects with a total value of EUR 2.7 million.
