Metsä Tissue invests in production capacity and sustainability upgrades

Metsä Tissue, part of Metsä Group, is initiating several substantial investments to modernize its production facilities and expand capacity across Europe. The company is focusing on locally produced hygiene products, aiming to improve industrial and material efficiency by increasing the use of fresh fiber as its primary raw material.

A 100 million Euro investment plan is underway for the Mänttä mill in Finland, intended to bolster the country's self-sufficiency in essential, locally produced hygiene products. In Mariestad, Sweden, the expansion and modernization investment is progressing swiftly, with the modernized production of Lambi, Serla, and Katrin products set to better serve Swedish and Scandinavian customers in the second half of next year. In the UK, plans for a new tissue paper mill are proceeding, currently in the pre-engineering stage.

Furthermore, Metsä Tissue is implementing development investments across its other European mill fleet to enhance customer service. The company is also continuously investing in its brand and product portfolio to foster market growth in collaboration with its customers.

Sustainability is central to Metsä Tissue's operations, with a target for all products to be manufactured using fully fossil-free raw materials by 2030.
