Metsä Tissue Sets Science-Aligned Climate Target

Metsä Tissue, part of the Metsä Group, has announced a new science-aligned climate target. The company commits to reducing its total greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, compared to 2020 levels.

The target supports Metsä Group's broader sustainability agenda and aligns with international climate goals. The reduction efforts will encompass both direct emissions from the company's operations (Scope 1 and 2) and indirect emissions throughout its value chain (Scope 3).

Previous initiatives by Metsä Tissue include a life cycle study highlighting environmental footprint improvements and a focus on product safety and the use of pure raw materials for food-grade papers. The company also emphasizes securing tissue supply through local and sustainable production in a volatile market.

Recent developments include the arrival of one of the world's largest Yankee cylinders at its new "Future mill" in Mariestad, Sweden, signifying an investment in production capacity. Additionally, the company is celebrating 30 years of its Tento brand, known for softness and quality.
