Metsä Wood's Kerto LVL Enables Long Spans in Construction Elements

Metsä Wood's Kerto LVL (laminated veneer lumber) material offers construction with solutions enabling significantly longer spans in roof and floor elements, reaching over 20 meters.

The combination of Kerto LVL's strength and lightness facilitates space-saving designs and reduces material requirements. In wall elements, using Kerto LVL Q-panels as bracing allows for larger window and door openings with fewer bracing walls. The material's excellent strength-to-weight ratio results in lighter structures, thereby decreasing the amount of material needed and lowering construction costs.

Metsä Wood supplies Kerto LVL products cut to specific sizes to its element manufacturing partners. This collaboration, combined with the material's quality, minimizes waste in construction. Kerto LVL is easy to work with standard tools, and its fire behavior is predictable, as surface charring protects the structure.

The company has engaged in long-term cooperation with wooden element manufacturers to develop faster building processes and material-optimized solutions. Notably, designs based on Kerto LVL Ripa gluing technology for floor and roof panels are utilized across Europe, providing wide spans and outstanding dimensional stability.
