Metso Acquires UK-Based Tedd Engineering to Boost Automation Capabilities

Metso Oyj has announced an agreement to acquire Tedd Engineering, a privately owned company based in Chesterfield, UK. Tedd Engineering focuses on automation, control systems, and electrical solutions primarily for mobile equipment within the aggregates industry, as well as aftermarket services.

The acquired company employs approximately 70 people and reported sales of around GBP 15 million for the financial year ending June 2023. Metso stated the acquisition will significantly strengthen its capabilities in utilizing digitalization and automation for its mobile equipment business and aftermarket division.

This move is expected to accelerate Metso's electrification and digitalization programs. Tedd Engineering has been a long-standing automation supplier for Metso's McCloskey brand, and the integration is anticipated to leverage this existing relationship for broader application across Metso's portfolio.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2023. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and Metso indicated it would have no material impact on its financial performance.
