Metso awarded over EUR 16 million thickener modernization order in Chile
Metso has secured a contract to modernize three thickeners at a customer site in Chile. The order, valued at approximately EUR 16 million, aims to enhance water recovery and operational throughput.

Metso has signed an agreement to deliver a comprehensive thickener modernization for a customer in Chile. The order, valued at around EUR 16 million, represents one of Metso's largest services orders for thickener modernization and was recorded in the Minerals segment's third-quarter orders received for 2026.
The modernization project aims to repower Metso's existing thickeners to handle higher throughput and operational demands. Key objectives include increasing underflow density and subsequently improving water recovery rates, thereby contributing to more sustainable mining operations and supporting the customer's water stewardship and productivity goals.
The scope of supply involves retrofitting three Metso high-rate thickeners. This includes the installation of two new Metso SCD 4000 drives, new mechanisms, and a redesigned high-performance feed system. The upgrades are designed to maximize equipment utilization under changing conditions and enhance water recovery efficiency.
Metso stated that the project reinforces its role as a trusted solutions partner and advances the adoption of its Metso Plus technologies in the region. The company believes this modernization will set a new industry benchmark for thickener performance, enabling more sustainable and productive mining.
