Metso enhances material handling in Asia Pacific via acquisitions
Metso Oyj has expanded its material handling solutions in the Asia Pacific region through strategic acquisitions. The company is integrating mechanical and automation capabilities to offer comprehensive services from mine to port.

Metso Oyj has strengthened its material handling capabilities in the Asia Pacific by integrating mechanical equipment with advanced automation. The company now offers comprehensive solutions for material transport from pit to plant and port operations.
Mining and port operations in the region face demanding environments with high material volumes and remote locations. Metso addresses these challenges with offerings including rail car dumpers, apron and belt feeders with intelligent condition monitoring, conveyor systems, stockyard machines, and ship loaders and port-side handling equipment. Globally, Metso has installed over 8,000 bulk material handling machines.
Metso's expertise in material handling in the region has been bolstered by two strategic acquisitions: Brouwer Engineering in 2023 and MRA Automation in 2026. Brouwer Engineering enhanced automation capabilities across PLC, SCADA, and HMI platforms, while MRA Automation added specialized experience in stockyard and port automation. MRA Automation's Axo33™ software platform provides integrated control and optimization across the entire material handling chain.
These combined capabilities allow Metso to act as a single accountable partner throughout the entire lifecycle of material handling systems. The acquisitions have increased local automation and engineering workforce, improved capacity for complex modernizations, and streamlined project execution. Metso also focuses on providing solutions for modernizing aging equipment and extending its lifecycle, thereby reducing capital investment needs and enhancing operational reliability and efficiency.
