Metso Expands Data-Driven Services for Mining Customers; Connected Equipment Base Exceeds 800

Metso is increasing its data-driven services for mining and minerals processing clients, reporting that the number of connected equipment units under its digital service umbrella has surpassed 800. This figure represents more than double the number of connected units since the introduction of Metso Data-driven Performance Services in September 2025.

The company's services integrate data from connected equipment, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence to enhance maintenance efficiency, safety, and overall productivity for its customers. Metso indicates that its system can identify 80% to 90% of potential issues, leading to increased equipment availability by up to 6% and a reduction in CO₂ emissions per tonne by as much as 20%.

Real-world application of these services has demonstrated tangible benefits. At a customer site in South America, the solution identified 94% of detected risks over a six-month period, preventing more than 215 hours of potential downtime and generating an estimated $7.4 million in value. This success was attributed to proactive condition monitoring and timely interventions.

Metso states that the growth in its connected equipment base reflects a rising demand for digital services that translate operational data into measurable value for mining operations. The company aims to help customers improve reliability, efficiency, and sustainability in their processing activities.
