Metso Oyj introduces new method for maintenance analysis
Metso Oyj has developed a new approach, 'Small Group RCM', to optimize the analysis of industrial equipment maintenance needs through Reliability Centered Maintenance.

Metso Oyj has introduced a new approach to analyzing the maintenance needs of industrial equipment, termed 'Small Group RCM'. Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), widely recognized as the best method for defining maintenance policies, has often faced criticism for being laborious and resource-intensive. Metso states that their new method adheres to the principles of classical RCM but differs significantly in its execution compared to traditional, session-based approaches.
The Small Group RCM method aims to deliver the benefits of classical RCM at a considerably lower cost and in less time. According to Metso, issues with traditional RCM often stem from implementation rather than the methodology itself. This new approach seeks to address these shortcomings.
Metso presented the method in a webinar, detailing how it can maximize equipment uptime and help achieve business targets more effectively. The presentation also included practical case examples of the method's application.
The development and presentation of the method involved experienced maintenance and reliability engineering professionals with decades of experience across various industries. Their expertise emphasizes data analysis and process optimization.
