Metso Pump Maintenance System Reduces Time, Improves Safety

Metso Oyj's Maintenance Slide Base Frame system has significantly reduced pump maintenance and inspection times for SAMIN, while enhancing workplace safety.

SAMIN, a company specializing in the extraction and processing of silica sands and industrial minerals, reported a four-fold decrease in service time for its horizontal centrifugal slurry pumps following the implementation of Metso's Maintenance Slide Base system. This system allows for pump maintenance without disconnecting the equipment from the piping and without the need for lifting devices.

At the Marcheprime site, which processes hundreds of thousands of tons of sand annually for the glass industry, pump servicing was previously a time-consuming and labor-intensive operation. A routine inspection that once required two workers and two hours can now be completed by a single technician in approximately 30 minutes. The system also considerably reduces the risks of workplace accidents.

Metso's solution features slide rails that facilitate quick and easy replacement of internal pump components, such as wear parts. The company has also developed a version with a hydraulic cylinder to further minimize potential risks.

SAMIN expressed satisfaction with Metso's technical support and the efficiency of the solution, which has led to further investment in an identical pump system. The company emphasizes that equipment and parts selection is based not only on price but also on the supplier's support services and expertise.
