Metso reports growth in data-driven services for mining sector
Metso Oyj announced a significant expansion of its data-driven services for the mining industry, with connected equipment numbers doubling to over 800 since late 2025.

Metso Oyj is expanding its data-driven services for the minerals processing industry, reporting that the number of connected equipment units has surpassed 800. This figure more than doubles the number of connected devices since the launch of Metso's Data-driven Performance Services in September 2025.
The services aim to improve maintenance efficiency, safety, and overall productivity by preventing equipment failures. Metso stated that 80-90% of potential issues are detected early, leading to increased equipment availability by up to 6% and a reduction in CO2 emissions per tonne by as much as 20%.
Metso's approach combines real-time equipment data with advanced analytics and AI models, supported by human expertise. This allows for holistic analysis of individual assets and entire process lines, enabling proactive identification and mitigation of developing problems.
A specific case study from a customer site in South America showed that the service identified 94% of identified risks within the first six months. This led to the avoidance of over 215 hours of potential downtime and reduced spare parts demand, representing a total captured value of USD 7.4 million for the customer.
