Metso Restructures Organization and Leadership Team to Boost Growth

Metso Oyj announced on November 4, 2024, a restructuring of its organization and leadership team designed to accelerate business growth and improve operational efficiency. The changes, effective immediately, do not impact the company's external financial reporting.

The revised structure consolidates operations into four distinct business areas: Aggregates, Minerals, Services, and Consumables. These are complemented by four corporate functions: Finance, Business Growth, HR, and Legal. A significant change from the previous setup is the discontinuation of the Metals business area and the establishment of a new dedicated function to drive business growth.

"With these changes, we will speed up the implementation of Metso’s growth strategy, strengthen our market position in the chosen businesses and improve our operational efficiency," stated Metso President and CEO Sami Takaluoma. "The main task of the new corporate function is to ensure that the conditions for growth are in place and optimized to generate the best value for the entire company."

The new leadership team comprises Sami Takaluoma (President and CEO), Eeva Sipilä (CFO, who will depart by April 2025), Markku Simula (President, Aggregates), Piia Karhu (President, Minerals), Heikki Metsälä (President, Services), and Saso Kitanoski (President, Consumables). Claudia Genin joins as Chief Growth Officer, Carita Himberg as Chief People Officer, and Nina Kiviranta as General Counsel. The company noted that all leadership team members have internal promotions.

Metso provides sustainable technologies, solutions, and services for the aggregates, minerals processing, and metals refining industries globally. Headquartered in Espoo, Finland, the company reported sales of approximately EUR 5.4 billion in 2023 and employs over 17,000 people across nearly 50 countries.
