Metso Rotor Cuts Krossekonomi's Maintenance Time by Half
Swedish construction crushing company Krossekonomi has reduced its maintenance time by 50% thanks to a new Metso RC Orange Series rotor for its Barmac crushers.

Swedish construction crushing company Krossekonomi has achieved a 50% reduction in maintenance time for its crushers by implementing a new RC Orange Series rotor from Metso Oyj. The component is installed in the company's Barmac vertical shaft impact (VSI) crushers, which are used to produce high-quality material for asphalt and concrete aggregate.
Krossekonomi operates multiple aggregate crushing plants, with the Gladökrossen facility processing approximately 700,000 metric tons annually. The company prioritizes production time, conducting maintenance during non-operational hours. Previously, maintaining older rotor models involved more time and specialized tools, with the risk of component seizure potentially causing production stoppages.
The new rotor design from Metso aims to simplify and expedite maintenance procedures. With a screw-less design and an enlarged service door, most wear parts can be replaced directly without requiring special tools. Krossekonomi reports that technicians can now complete the same maintenance tasks in half the time compared to older rotor models.
The company intends to upgrade all its Barmac crushers to the new rotor model as existing parts reach their end-of-life. The improvements in maintenance efficiency and component longevity have reportedly enhanced both working conditions and overall plant productivity. Krossekonomi describes its collaboration with Metso as positive, highlighting the manufacturer's responsiveness to feedback and ongoing product development.
