Metso to deliver gold processing plant to Saudi Arabia

Metso Oyj has secured a contract with Saudi Arabia's Maaden to supply a gold processing plant for the Ar Rjum mine, located in the Makkah Region. The order value is approximately EUR 128 million, with the booking expected to be split between Metso's Minerals segment's third and fourth-quarter order intake for 2025.

The delivery encompasses a comprehensive, end-to-end gold processing line, from ore to doré. This includes a crushing station, conveying systems, a grinding circuit with SAG and ball mills, pre-leaching and CIL leaching circuits, final tailings thickeners, a gravity separation circuit, an elution plant, and gold room technologies. Metso will also provide process electrification, field instrumentation, and automation, along with detailed engineering for the plant. Advisory services for equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up are included under a separate service contract.

This project strengthens Metso's long-standing collaboration with Maaden and aligns with Saudi Arabia's national strategy to expand and diversify its mining industry. Piia Karhu, President of Metso's Minerals segment, stated that the company is proud to support the Kingdom's vision for increased gold production and responsible resource development by delivering sustainable gold processing solutions.

With over 25 years of local presence in the Middle East, Metso views the region as a growth market due to its mineral resources and infrastructure development needs. The company offers complete processing solutions, enhancing customers' energy and water efficiency, and improving environmental performance in gold production.
