Metso Oyj has signed a comprehensive frame agreement with Reko Diq Mining for the delivery of key process equipment to the Reko Diq copper-gold project in Pakistan. The total value of the agreement is EUR 200 million.

Metso Oyj has entered into a significant frame agreement with Reko Diq Mining for the supply of essential process equipment to the company's greenfield copper-gold project located in Pakistan's Balochistan province. Reko Diq is recognized as one of the world's largest undeveloped copper-gold deposits.
The total gross value of the equipment packages under this framework agreement amounts to EUR 200 million. Initial orders, focusing on crushing and grinding equipment, represent a value close to EUR 100 million and have been booked in Metso's Minerals segment for the third quarter of 2024. The delivered equipment will include Superior TM 6089 MKIII Gyratory Crushers and Nordberg MP1250 Cone crushers, alongside PremierTM ball mills with 51MW installed power.
Further orders anticipated under the agreement include mechanical flotation cells, thickeners, Vertimill and HIGmill regrind mills, and concentrate filters, with these expected to be placed later in 2024 and 2025. The Reko Diq mine is projected to operate for approximately 40 years with a planned annual processing capacity of around 90 million tons, targeting initial production by 2028.
Owned 50% by Barrick Gold, the Reko Diq project aims to enhance global copper production to meet the demands of the energy transition. Metso's contribution is expected to improve energy and water efficiency, alongside boosting overall productivity for the mining operation.
