Metso Truck Body reduces weight and fuel consumption at Röhrig
German quarrying company Röhrig Granit has adopted Metso Truck Body, a lighter cargo box solution that reduces fuel consumption and increases payload.

Metso Oyj's new truck body solution has significantly reduced fuel consumption and increased payload for the German quarrying company Röhrig Granit. The new Metso Truck Body design is up to 30 percent lighter than traditional steel truck bodies, allowing for an additional five tons of payload per trip.
Röhrig Granit is utilizing the Metso Truck Body on its two quarry trucks operating in the Heppenheim region of Germany. The specialized truck body solution is optimized for mining and quarrying operations, combining the benefits of high-strength steel and rubber for a durable yet lightweight structure.
Company management stated that the new solution saves approximately five liters of fuel per hour. With around 2,000 operating hours per year, this translates to an annual saving of approximately 8,000 liters. These cost savings were a crucial factor in the investment decision, which also supports the company's sustainability strategy.
Compared to conventional steel bodies, the Metso solution reduces the vehicle's total weight by up to six tons. An additional benefit is the rubber lining, which significantly reduces noise and vibrations during unloading, improving driver ergonomics and reducing stress on equipment.
