Mevaset utilizes Metso crusher for concrete and asphalt waste recycling

Mevaset Oy, a demolition company based in Tampere, Finland, has implemented Metso's Lokotrack LT400RS mobile crusher to enhance the recycling of concrete and asphalt waste at its own site. The machine provides a capacity of up to 350 tonnes per hour and flexibly produces multiple saleable end products simultaneously, thanks to its onboard screening unit.

Mevaset's business model integrates demolition work with waste recycling, which reduces transportation needs and handling costs. Seppo Uusitalo, project manager at Mevaset, highlights the specific material properties of recycled concrete and the limited nature of the raw material, as it is primarily generated from demolition projects. Efficient processing is therefore economically beneficial.

The Lokotrack LT400RS crusher is equipped with a wide feeder and the new Nordberg NP1213MR crushing unit, which can efficiently separate steel and lighter materials like plastics and insulation from the crushed material. Mevaset produces three different sizes of crushed concrete (45 mm, 60 mm, and 90 mm) and 16 mm crushed asphalt with the machine.

The machine's diesel-electric drive system reduces fuel consumption, emissions, and noise, which is particularly important for recycling sites located near residential areas. According to Mevaset, adopting new technology and its associated benefits are crucial for the company's operations. The recycled materials are then utilized in new applications, such as earthworks.
