Michelin Converts Historic Industrial Site into Innovation Park
Michelin is transforming its former industrial site in Cataroux, France, into a multi-purpose innovation district. The project aims to foster economic, social, and cultural development in the region.

Michelin has launched an ambitious project in Clermont-Ferrand, France, to convert its historic Cataroux industrial site into a modern innovation district. The initiative, named "MICHELIN Innovation Park - Cataroux," aims to drive economic, social, and cultural development.
The project demonstrates Michelin's commitment to the region where the company was founded. It includes the establishment of a "Collaborative Innovation Hub" (CIH), spanning nearly 20,000 square meters, designed for co-working and co-living to accommodate around a hundred individuals and accelerate promising "impact economy" projects.
This undertaking emphasizes a multi-stakeholder approach, involving collaboration between public authorities, such as the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and Clermont Auvergne Metropolitan Area, and private partners like Crédit Agricole Centre France. The goal is to preserve industrial heritage while revitalizing the Cataroux district.
Furthermore, a "Sustainable Materials Center" (SMC) will be established to focus on the development of sustainable materials and the promotion of a circular economy, aligning with broader strategies for environmental stewardship and the growth of new sectors like recycling.
