Michelin, the global tire manufacturer, has established a worldwide commitment to provide all its employees with a salary at least equivalent to a living wage and to ensure universal social protection. The company announced these measures, which align with its long-term social responsibility strategy.

The 'living wage' is defined by the UN Global Compact as remuneration sufficient to cover essential needs for an employee and their family, including housing, food, transport, and education, along with provision for unexpected events. Michelin received the 'Global Living Wage Employer' certification from the Fair Wage Network in early 2024, confirming that its employees worldwide meet this standard.

Complementing the living wage, Michelin's 'One Care' program establishes a universal social protection floor. This includes a minimum of 14 weeks of fully paid maternity/adoption leave and four weeks of paternity/adoption leave. The program also provides a death benefit of at least one year's salary, an education annuity for orphans, and comprehensive healthcare coverage for employees and their families.

Furthermore, Michelin is investing over €240 million annually in a new lifelong learning approach to enhance employee employability amid evolving job markets. This initiative includes expanded access to training through its corporate university, The Talent Campus, offering 55,000 online modules and tailored courses.

During the announcement, the company also officially presented Parc Cataroux, a significant redevelopment project on a 42-hectare site at its historic Clermont-Ferrand plant. This €300 million project aims to foster innovation through several dedicated clusters, including training, sustainable materials research, and a collaborative innovation hub, alongside the development of a new residential area called Quartier des Pistes.
