Michelin leverages data for connected mobility solutions
Michelin is developing its services through data collection and analysis, expanding its data science capabilities through acquisitions over the past decade.

Tire manufacturer Michelin has strengthened its position in connected mobility by leveraging collected data. The company has developed a comprehensive data processing chain, from raw data capture to proposed solutions.
Michelin combines over a century of expertise in tire physics and vehicle dynamics with data analysis. The company also designs specialized sensors to enhance data collection. This approach enables the delivery of significant benefits to customers, such as safer and cleaner mobility solutions.
Over the last decade, Michelin has acquired several telematics companies, including Sascar in 2014, and Masternaut and Nextraq in 2020. These combined entities, now under the MICHELIN Connected Fleet brand, serve over one million heavy-duty vehicles and light commercial vehicles. The company also acquired RoadBotics, an American startup specializing in road infrastructure image analysis.
Through these acquisitions and internal expertise, Michelin aims to make mobility smarter, cleaner, and safer. The objectives also include improving customers' economic and operational performance and reducing environmental impact. The company continues its development in data science, exploring new avenues for innovation.
