Michelin unveils tire technology for electric Citroën 2CV concept
Michelin has designed custom tires for the new electric Citroën 2CV concept, featuring digital tire-monitoring technology to enhance safety and efficiency.
Michelin has announced its involvement in the design of the new all-electric Citroën 2CV concept car. The project, which revisits the 1948 model, aims to modernize the vehicle's accessibility and simplicity through electrification and digital integration. Michelin contributed both aesthetic design elements and software-driven tire solutions.
A core component of the partnership is Michelin’s 'Touch Intelligence,' a digital twin technology. By analyzing data already generated by the vehicle, the system can estimate tire grip, pressure, load, and wear without the need for embedded sensors. This information assists driver-assistance systems in adapting vehicle behavior, aiming to increase safety and reduce maintenance costs through timely monitoring.
Walid Djabour, Operational Marketing Manager for Original Equipment Passenger Car Tires, noted that the project was a collaboration aimed at connecting the heritage of both brands with contemporary design standards. The tire itself features a custom graphic treatment combining Michelin’s heritage logo with Citroën’s chevrons. The initiative reflects a broader shift toward integrating software-based performance optimization into automotive design.
