Micropos Medical joins industry effort to promote precision radiotherapy for prostate cancer
Despite clinical evidence supporting radiotherapy as a highly effective, less invasive option for prostate cancer, usage remains low across Europe, prompting a push for greater awareness.

Modern radiotherapy for prostate cancer is increasingly recognized for providing oncological outcomes comparable to surgery while offering significant benefits regarding urinary and sexual function. However, current data indicates that radiotherapy is underutilized, with usage rates in some European registries as low as 12–22 percent, despite guidelines suggesting it as a primary treatment option for non-metastatic cases.
Following discussions at the ESTRO 2026 congress, medical experts and industry representatives are calling for improved patient education to address persistent misconceptions. Professor Filippo Alongi, a leading expert from the University of Brescia, cited the PACE-A study, which demonstrates that high-precision, short-course radiotherapy can preserve patient quality of life better than traditional robotic surgery in many instances.
Micropos Medical, the developer of the Raypilot system, is participating in this broader movement to integrate technological advancements into routine clinical care. Hanna Syrén, COO of Micropos Medical, stated that the industry's role is to facilitate clinical efficiency and improve outcomes by ensuring clinicians and patients are aware of the efficacy of modern, non-invasive radiotherapy.
The current industry push seeks to leverage long-term clinical data to standardize treatment options across Europe, ultimately reducing the reliance on surgical intervention and focusing on patient-centered recovery.
