Microsoft Acknowledges Outlook Bug Hiding Copilot
Microsoft has admitted to a bug in classic Outlook for Windows 10 and 11 that prevents users from accessing Copilot features. Some users reportedly welcome the disappearance of the AI tool.
IT Home reports that Microsoft has acknowledged a fault within the classic version of Outlook on Windows 10 and Windows 11. The issue arises after users update Outlook to version 20026.20182 or later, leading to the inability to access Copilot functionality.
The bug causes the Copilot button to disappear from the Outlook interface. It is hidden from the right side of the ribbon, as well as from the left-side application bar and the 'More apps' area. Users are also unable to access Copilot Chat, effectively blocking AI-powered conversations.
Standard troubleshooting steps, such as creating a new Outlook profile, clearing local cache data, re-logging into Office, or restarting Windows, have reportedly failed to restore the missing buttons. Users indicate that a full reinstallation of Outlook may be necessary.
Notably, some users have expressed satisfaction with the bug, describing it as a "major upgrade." These users apparently prefer that the integrated AI feature is unavailable.
