Microsoft Acknowledges Windows 11 Update Causing USB Audio Device Errors

Microsoft has acknowledged that its recent "Patch Tuesday" update for Windows 11 is causing a "Code 10" error in Device Manager. This error prevents USB Audio Class 1.0 devices from working correctly, leading to reports of complete sound output loss.

The issue impacts Windows 11 versions 26H1, 25H2, and 24H2, though it does not affect server versions. Affected users may experience total silence, malfunctioning volume controls, and the inability to use multichannel or 3D audio features.

Microsoft stated that it is investigating a permanent fix for the problem. Until an official resolution is rolled out, some users have suggested temporarily switching multichannel audio configurations to standard stereo as a workaround, as noted on Microsoft Learn.

The latest update includes significant security fixes, making uninstallation inadvisable due to potential exposure to numerous security vulnerabilities. As alternative temporary measures, users are advised to switch to stereo mode or use different audio peripherals.
