Mustafa Suleyman, head of Microsoft's AI division, has highlighted the necessity of ensuring that advancements in artificial intelligence remain under human control.

According to Suleyman, companies should refrain from developing technology they cannot manage. "If technological development ultimately leads to something that is not only more powerful than all of humanity combined, but also completely uncontrollable, then AI loses its fundamental meaning," he stated.

He acknowledged that achieving this objective presents considerable difficulties. "How we control these systems will be a very, very significant challenge," Suleyman noted.

Suleyman expressed satisfaction in observing a growing consensus that technology firms and leading model developers must maintain oversight of their AI systems. "But now, more and more people feel that we are developing AI for development's sake, just to see what's around the corner, and in the end, we might create something that escapes our control."

Suleyman also addressed the regulation of AI, emphasizing that regulation is not a negative term. He drew parallels to other standardization processes where industry, public, and governmental participation is crucial.
