Microsoft caps Xbox Cloud Gaming at 15 hours monthly for Ultimate subscribers

Microsoft is implementing significant changes to its Xbox Cloud Gaming service, limiting monthly playtime for subscribers. Beginning in November, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will be restricted to 15 hours of cloud gaming per month.

The move marks a shift from the previous policy, which offered unlimited cloud gaming access across all Game Pass tiers for the past year. Premium subscribers will now be limited to 10 hours monthly, while Essential subscribers will have their playtime capped at 5 hours per month.

"We recognize that introducing limits is a meaningful change, particularly for players who regularly spend more time gaming through the cloud," the Xbox team stated in a blog post announcing the adjustments. Microsoft estimates that approximately four percent of cloud gamers will be impacted by this upcoming change.

The new hour caps are set to take effect at the beginning of November. This alteration could affect the user experience for gamers who have relied on unlimited cloud access as part of their subscription value.
