Microsoft CEO: Leaders Must Earn Trust During AI Transformation

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has highlighted that leaders must earn the trust of their employees during the artificial intelligence (AI) era. Nadella stated that AI is no longer simply a technology strategy but has become a test of trust for all leaders.

Nadella cautioned that AI companies and their leaders must earn "social permission" to operate. Rather than marketing AI as a job-displacing technology, he argues that leaders should focus on reorganizing job roles. To navigate this shift, Nadella suggests a five-word approach for leaders.

Leaders guiding people through this significant transition should, according to Nadella, employ five words: "Here is what is changing." These words reduce ambiguity, which is a breeding ground for fear. When leaders remain silent about change, employees fill information gaps with worst-case scenarios. Clear communication helps manage expectations and builds trust.
