Microsoft has confirmed the continuation of its Copilot+ PC brand, reporting that tens of millions of these AI-enabled computers are shipped annually.
The company indicated that these devices are performing over 2 trillion local AI inferences per month. These computations support a range of functions, including search, image processing, and video calls.
"Over 40% of commercial laptops are now Copilot+ PC models," stated Pavan Davuluri, head of Microsoft's Windows and Devices division. He emphasized that local AI capabilities are crucial for enhancing user experience.
Copilot+ PCs utilize "hybrid intelligence" to bolster their on-device AI features. Key local capabilities include understanding context from files and recent activity, performing actions on behalf of the user, and running AI models directly on the PC.
