Microsoft confirms unresolved print service errors in Windows 11

Microsoft has acknowledged persistent technical failures affecting Universal Print functionality on Windows 11, requiring users to perform manual configuration changes to restore service.

25 October 2026

Microsoft has confirmed that its Universal Print service is experiencing recurring technical faults, specifically affecting Konica Minolta printers. According to the company, these devices intermittently lose connectivity with the cloud-based print service, resulting in print jobs remaining in a permanent "pending" state before being marked as "aborted" after three days of inactivity.

Separately, the company acknowledged a separate, seven-month-old defect that disables print functionality for devices upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. In these instances, the print button within the user interface becomes unresponsive, rendering the device unusable for standard printing tasks.

Microsoft indicated that the issue persists even after the installation of the April 2026 update (KB5083769) and continues to affect systems running the Windows 11 26H2 update. The company has not yet provided a permanent patch, advising users to switch from system-wide printer installation to user-specific installation as a temporary workaround.
