Microsoft Copilot Expands Purchasing Capabilities with AI Solutions
Microsoft is introducing a new suite of AI solutions for retail, enabling purchases directly within Copilot and enhancing e-commerce functionalities.

Microsoft is making a significant move toward a more integrated e-commerce experience with the launch of its new artificial intelligence solutions for the retail sector.
The new "agentic solutions" are designed to actively facilitate and execute purchasing decisions across various business operations. The associated Copilot Checkout feature, available in the United States, allows consumers to finalize their purchases directly within the Microsoft Copilot environment. This significantly shortens the buying journey, making the process from product discovery to transaction more seamless.
E-commerce trends show a dramatic shift, with AI-driven online shopping traffic surging 693% year-over-year during the 2025 holiday season, highlighting evolving consumer behaviors. Microsoft's solutions aim to meet consumers where they are already making purchasing decisions.
"The goal is to help retailers make faster decisions while strengthening customer relationships and building operational resilience," said Kathleen Mitford, Corporate Vice President for Global Industry at Microsoft.
Furthermore, "Brand Agents" and personalized shopping agent templates are embedding conversational intelligence directly into digital storefronts. These systems guide customers and support purchasing decisions in real-time, improving conversion rates and reducing returns. Product data management is also evolving to keep pace with the rapid changes in commerce.
