Microsoft has responded to user complaints regarding unsolicited McAfee software advertisements appearing on Windows 11 computers connected to LG displays. Pavan Davuluri, a Microsoft executive overseeing Windows and Devices, confirmed on social media that action has been taken.

The issue gained attention when Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, shared online reports from users experiencing these McAfee promotions after connecting LG monitors to their Windows 11 systems. This sparked concern over potentially intrusive software bundling.

Following the reports, Davuluri stated that Microsoft contacted LG, and the display manufacturer promptly agreed to disable the McAfee pop-up advertisements within its applications. Davuluri expressed appreciation for LG's cooperation in improving the user experience.

LG Electronics separately issued a statement clarifying its position. The company emphasized that McAfee is not automatically installed without explicit user consent. According to LG, the McAfee offer is presented as an optional component through the official Windows distribution process, requiring users to actively choose to install it.
