Microsoft Edge 118.0.2150.50 Adds JPEG XL Support and AI Tab Organization
Microsoft released the stable version of Edge 118.0.2150.50, introducing support for JPEG XL image decoding. The update also enhances AI-powered organization of tabs and workspaces.
Microsoft released the stable desktop version of its Edge browser, version 118.0.2150.50, on October 8. The update includes support for the JPEG XL image format and expands AI capabilities for organizing browser tabs and workspaces.
The browser's AI tab organization feature has been enhanced to not only suggest groupings for tabs and workspaces but also recommend names and visual styles for these groups. Users can adjust these settings within Edge's privacy configurations.
The new version enables direct decoding and display of JPEG XL images (image/jxl). This format supports progressive decoding, wide color gamuts, high dynamic range (HDR), and animations, improving the presentation of images on web pages.
Additionally, Edge 118.0.2150.50 incorporates several web platform updates, including changes to CSS features and extensions to the window management API. Microsoft also confirmed that the latest security updates from the Chromium project have been integrated into this release.
