Microsoft's October Windows 11 update (KB5127648) resolves mouse input lag issues in certain games. Users have reported the problem since February 2025.

Microsoft has released its October cumulative update for Windows 11, addressing a previously reported issue causing mouse input lag during gameplay. The update, KB5127648, available for Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H2, aims to resolve the problem that has impacted the gaming experience for some users.

According to the official release notes, Microsoft stated: "This update fixes an issue with mouse input lag that may occur in some games." The company did not provide details on the root cause, the scope of affected users, or specific titles impacted by the lag.

The issue dates back to at least February 2025, when some users reported persistent delays and stuttering with their mouse input following fresh installations of Windows 11 24H2. Further reports in October 2025 indicated problems arising when using external monitors and docking stations.

In June 2026, users on Microsoft's Q&A forums reported that system updates had affected mouse performance in games such as "Star Wars: The Old Republic" and "Final Fantasy XIV." These issues included abnormal camera rotation and cursor disappearance. Many users had attempted troubleshooting by replacing mice, adjusting settings, and reinstalling the operating system without success.
