Microsoft Launches First Cybersecurity Model and New Agentic System

Microsoft launched its first cybersecurity-specialized AI model and a new agentic cybersecurity platform in San Francisco on Monday. The company's latest offerings aim to bolster defenses against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

The model, named MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, is designed to identify challenging vulnerabilities within complex codebases. It is integrated into Microsoft's MDASH harness, a system dedicated to software vulnerability identification and remediation.

The new platform, called Perception, is intended to deploy teams of AI agents to automate various security workflows, including bug detection and remediation. The platform also offers integration capabilities with MDASH.

Microsoft claims MAI-Cyber-1-Flash outperforms competitor models in benchmark tests, citing increased power and cost-effectiveness. The company indicated that the system is being deployed into production immediately.

Addressing the rise of AI in cyberattacks, Microsoft stated that Perception enables enterprise defenders to "defend against AI with AI at the scale and speed that the attackers have."
