Microsoft Overhauls Windows Search for Speed and Modernity
Microsoft has begun testing a redesigned Windows Search feature for Windows 11. The new search aims to be faster, more capable, and modern.

Microsoft has initiated testing for a new Windows Search experience within Windows 11, aiming to address previous user frustrations with the search functionality. This revamped search is designed for improved speed and a more modern interface, representing a significant investment in enhancing core Windows features.
The new search is built on the WinUI 3 framework. Microsoft reports that initial testing indicates substantial improvements in performance and memory usage, suggesting a more efficient operation compared to its predecessor. The goal is to provide users with a smoother and more responsive way to find files and applications.
Anshul Rawat, corporate vice president of the Windows product team at Microsoft, stated that the new search is "built for speed" and part of the company's broader efforts to modernize essential Windows experiences. This development directly addresses user feedback regarding the search tool's previous limitations.
Following the current testing phase, the updated Windows Search is expected to be rolled out to a wider audience through future Windows 11 updates. This enhancement aims to improve overall user productivity and the general usability of the operating system.
