Microsoft refreshes Surface Pro and Laptop with Qualcomm chips
Microsoft is updating its smaller Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Plus processors. The new versions come with a significant price increase.
Microsoft has refreshed its smaller Surface Pro and Surface Laptop devices, equipping them with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X2 Plus chips. This update brings enhanced performance but also a notable increase in price.
The 12-inch Surface Pro, in its second edition, is set to launch on October 13th with a starting price of $1,149.99, up from $799.99 last year. Similarly, the 13-inch Surface Laptop now starts at $1,199.99, an increase from its original $899.99 price point.
Part of the price hike is attributed to the removal of the 8GB RAM base model, which was previously the most affordable option. Further details on other configurations and their pricing have not yet been disclosed.
The design and other hardware features of these devices remain largely the same as their predecessors. The primary focus of this refresh is the integration of Qualcomm's more capable processors for improved computing power.
