Microsoft has issued a cumulative update for Windows 11, version 26H1, bringing the build number to 28000.3231. The update introduces significant changes to the taskbar's functionality and customization.
Microsoft has released a new cumulative update, KB5127646, for Windows 11 version 26H1, bringing the system build to 28000.3231. The update focuses on enhancing the user experience by offering new ways to customize the interface, particularly the taskbar.
A key feature is the expanded alignment options for the taskbar. Users can now position the taskbar on any of the four edges of the screen: top, bottom, left, or right. The system automatically adjusts to the new location while preserving most customization settings, such as the 'never combine taskbar buttons' option. Additionally, a smaller taskbar mode is introduced, suitable for smaller screens to maximize available display space.
The Start menu has also seen improvements. Users can now select from three Start menu layouts: small, large, and default. The 'Recommended' section has been renamed to 'Recent,' and users have the option to hide their name and profile picture. Furthermore, individual toggles allow users to control the visibility of the pinned apps, recent items, and all apps sections.
Search functionalities have been simplified and clarified. Search result sources are more distinctly identified, and the system will now automatically index frequently accessed folders to improve file search accuracy. The File Explorer has also been optimized for faster loading and smoother interactions. The update includes numerous other minor improvements and fixes for system stability and performance, addressing areas such as graphics, task manager, and network features.
