Microsoft removes Mico character from Copilot
Microsoft is removing the emotive yellow blob character, Mico, from its Copilot chatbot's voice mode. The character will be relocated to the Learn Live platform.
Microsoft has removed the Mico character from the voice mode of its AI assistant, Copilot. Mico, described by Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman as a way to give the chatbot an "identity," was launched last October.
The yellow blob avatar was designed to react in real-time to user input with facial expressions and animations. Microsoft has stated that Mico will now be moved to its Learn Live platform, where it is expected to have "more to react to."
Mico's removal marks another instance of Microsoft retiring virtual assistants. The company has previously phased out or discontinued other digital helpers, including Clippy, Cortana, and Rover.
