Microsoft Reportedly Adjusting Xbox Game Pass Subscription Service

Microsoft is reportedly planning significant changes to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Rumors suggest the company may stop including new games at launch and could introduce separate charges for cloud gaming.

Microsoft is reportedly preparing to make substantial adjustments to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service. According to information circulating on forums, the company may cease the practice of adding new titles on their release day to the service, potentially by early 2027.

Furthermore, all existing subscription tiers may lose their integrated cloud gaming functionality. The reports indicate that cloud gaming could become an add-on service, possibly costing around $5.99 per month for 25 hours of playtime. Family plans might incur additional fees.

Speculation also points to the potential introduction of a new, multiplayer-focused subscription tier priced at approximately $14.99 per month. The current service offers multiple tiers, with the top-tier option costing $19.99 monthly and providing ad-free access to a large game library.

Gamers have already voiced opposition to the potential removal of day-one releases, viewing it as a core value proposition of the subscription. However, some analysts suggest that this launch-day inclusion strategy may have negatively impacted game sales, and subscriber growth may not have sufficiently offset revenue losses.
