Microsoft is reportedly instructing its sales teams to emphasize the cost-effectiveness and comprehensiveness of its own AI models when comparing them to rival offerings from companies like OpenAI and Anthropic.

The company has allegedly begun training its sales force to highlight the advantages of Microsoft's proprietary AI models, focusing on their cost-effectiveness and integrated system approach over those offered by competitors.
During an internal meeting on Tuesday, Microsoft executives outlined a strategy aimed at equipping salespeople to draw unfavorable comparisons between AI products from rivals such as OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, and Microsoft's own solutions. The objective is to position Microsoft's offerings as a more financially sensible and complete package.
"Everyone else is selling parts — we’re selling the full end-to-end system. That’s the story that we all need to get out there and tell in FY27," Executive Vice President Jay Parikh reportedly stated at the gathering.
This strategic shift likely reflects an effort to solidify Microsoft's standing in the rapidly evolving AI landscape and attract customers to adopt the company's in-house technology.
