Microsoft reports $92.3 billion in revenue amid structural financial changes

Microsoft Corporation announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, reporting $92.3 billion in total revenue and a net income of $33.6 billion. The figures represent a 19 percent revenue growth and a 32 percent increase in net income compared to the same period last year.

Simultaneous with the earnings release, the company implemented a restructuring of its financial reporting segments. Microsoft has consolidated its business units into two core categories: 'Agents and Infra' and 'Devices and Consumer.' This change replaces the company’s legacy reporting structure, which previously separated segments like Intelligent Cloud and More Personal Computing.

The 'Agents and Infra' segment now encompasses the Azure cloud platform and related infrastructure services. Analysts observe that this move is intended to provide better transparency into the performance of AI-integrated products as Microsoft focuses its resources on these growth areas.

Looking forward, the transition reflects the company’s effort to align its financial reporting with its ongoing strategic pivot toward large-scale AI infrastructure and automated agent services.
