The customizable button is primarily designed for quick access to Microsoft Copilot but can be reconfigured via the Surface app to launch other shortcuts. The haptic feedback aims to provide a subtle, physical response to on-screen actions, such as clicks or window snapping.
"Its haptic feedback adds a small, purposeful physical response to the moment you usually only see on a screen: a click registering, a window snapping into place or an object aligning just right," stated Brett Ostrum, corporate vice president of Surface Devices. He noted the feedback is subtle by design but noticeable quickly.
The updated mouse is expected to enhance the user experience for Surface device owners seeking more integrated and tactile interaction. Further details on pricing and availability are anticipated from Microsoft.
