Microsoft Teams Interface Updated to Reduce User Errors

Microsoft has rolled out an interface update for its Teams meeting application aimed at reducing instances of users accidentally initiating screen sharing or leaving meetings unintentionally.

Internal research by Microsoft identified the "Share" and "Leave" buttons within Teams as the most frequent sources of accidental activation. These actions are immediate upon pressing the button, which has reportedly led to awkward situations.

The updated interface consolidates primary controls for audio, video, and sharing at the top center of the screen. The "Leave" button has been relocated to the far right of the interface to minimize accidental clicks, a change from its previous proximity to other core functions.

Less frequently used tools, such as recording, captions, meeting notes, breakout rooms, polls, whiteboard, and YouTube integration, have been grouped under a "More" menu to simplify the main panel. Users will also have the ability to customize the layout of these control buttons based on their usage patterns.
