Microsoft Tests Battery Status Widget for Windows 11

Microsoft is testing a new battery status widget for Windows 11, designed to centrally display the remaining battery life of laptops and connected peripherals.

9 October 2026

Microsoft is currently testing a new battery status widget within the Windows 11 operating system. This feature aims to provide users with a centralized view of the battery levels for both their computer and its connected wireless peripherals.

The new widget is intended to eliminate the need for users to navigate through multiple menus or separate applications to check battery status for devices like Bluetooth headphones, keyboards, or mice. Information such as remaining percentage and connection status will be readily available in one place.

The widget will be accessible through the system's widget panel. It will list the laptop's own battery level, followed by details for connected accessories. This feature is currently being rolled out to select participants in the Windows Insider program, with no official release date announced for general availability.

The introduction of this widget could streamline device management for users who rely on multiple wireless peripherals, offering a more integrated experience within the Windows environment.
