Microsoft tests free, ad-supported cloud gaming for Xbox Insiders
Xbox Insiders can now stream owned games for free through ad-supported sessions. The test offers one-hour play sessions before ads, with options to avoid ads via paid subscriptions.

Microsoft has launched a limited test period allowing Xbox Insiders to stream games they already own via the cloud without a subscription fee. This new, ad-supported streaming option is available only during the test phase.
Users can stream titles for which they hold a digital license. Each gaming session is capped at one hour. Advertisements will be shown only at the beginning of each session. Players with existing paid Xbox Cloud Gaming subscriptions can continue to play without interruption from ads.
The company began internally testing an ad-supported version of Xbox Cloud Gaming late last year. Early reports from these internal tests suggested the trial also covered subscriber-facing elements.
Microsoft has not provided specific details regarding the duration or scope of this test period. The company has also not commented on whether the ad-supported model will become a permanent offering following the conclusion of the trial.
